Affliction Clothing is an American clothing manufacturer based in Seal Beach,California. It is owned by Affliction Inc. who also used to run an MMA promotion, Affliction Entertainment.
Affliction was launched in August 2005. The company is co-owned by Tom Atencio, Todd Beard, Eric Foss, and Clifton Chason and originated as a spin-out from Foss and Chason's Digital Ink Creative Services. Affliction's clothing line includes t-shirts, polo shirts, thermals, hoodies, shorts, jeans, and shoes. Their style has been described as "skull and crossbone inspired".Many of Affliction's shirts bear the logo of many of the world's top ranked MMA fighters, including Georges St. Pierre,Randy Couture, and Quinton Jackson and many world class boxing superstars including Oscar De La Hoya,Shane Mosley and Zab Judah.
Several nightclubs and bars in Vancouver & Victoria,British Columbia do not allow Affliction's clothing in addition to other labels such as Ed Hardy due to a perceived association with local gang activities. Pamela Rogers, a spokesperson for Affliction, maintained that the brand "has nothing to do with gangs" and describes it instead as an "upscale men’s boutique brand". In Calgary, the nightclub "Cowboys" has also banned the use of Affliction t-shirts, due to the incidents in Vancouver and Victoria.
